Family night was super busy today. We had our usual server this evening and he was slammed! However, he was still super attentive to our table. Loved that! As you guessed it, I had the tacos rancheros with corn tortillas! It was so tasty. They put so much meat, onion and cilantros on the 3 tacos that they had to double the corn tortillas! I usually ask for some pico de gallo on the side with the spicy ranchero sauce for the extra kick! It was delicious! My husband ordered the chicken quesadilla with beans and lettuce that was so tasty that his plate was empty before I ate my 2nd taco. I ended up giving my 3rd to him because I was already full. To quench our thirst we had our usual frozen margarita and large Dos Equis! This is the place to be to get your Mexican fill and getting great quality service without breaking your budget!

As a local I've been to Los Arcos on many occasions, not ever expecting the best, but everything is usually par. So when I dined there with my family the other night I expected the same quality service and par food and drink choices. We order margaritas from our waitress, and wait for her to take our order. 20 minutes later she comes back with drinks and leaves again, this is on a monday at 830pm, so it was not busy and there was plenty of staff on the floor. After ordering food and another round of Margaritas, the food finally came out. Mabye 45 min since we were seated, everything came out and order was correct. My chicken was like a piece of rubber an unedible, so upon waiting for the waitress to come check on her table my family finished thier food, she asked if everything was ok and I told her my chicken issue, she told manager and they offered to cook another piece of chicken. I declined that offer because everyone else had already eaten and was not offered alternative option. So the bill came and my meal was still on the bill? And because of manager not coming to the table and how slow service is I decided to pay and never go back. Thats how you lose a customer and local who often recommends establishments to tourists.

I was with my aunt who wanted some Mexican food (or let's be honest she was in it for a margarita and chips and salsa). I had been here once before with friends that used to live in the area. It is set back in the far corner of the plaza. The house salsa is good and has a little bit of a kick to it that I think other places are lacking in their house salsa because they're too afraid of people who don't like it spicy. We each got a frozen margarita - the medium size. They were huge! Can't imagine getting the larger. After ordering our food was in front of us in what seemed like less than five minutes! The service was very fast. As far as taste goes, this is your standard Mexican restaurant. There's nothing special or exciting on the menu that you can't get anywhere else.

Enjoyed it! A fairly typical Mexican place with a slightly expanded menu. They kept the chips and salsa coming while we waited a short time for our dinners. There are 2 sizes of beer - can't remember the exact ounces. But, the small one seemed tiny and the other choice was HUGE! Service was splendid. At the suggestion of our waiter we tried the Guacamole Mexicano and it was great - recommend trying it! We'll stop in again!

Had lunch today. They have a lot of inexpensive specials for lunch every weekday. Had chicken fajitas. Pretty pretty good. Plenty of chicken (no fatty pieces I noted), 3 soft tacos, fresh peppers, onions and tomatoes with refried beans and a guacamole salad. Lots of food for $6.75. Complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were crisp and warm. Service was friendly and attentive. Not anything to criticize here. AND, they serve their water and iced tea in real glasses, not a plastic tumbler. I felt uncomfortable giving them only 4 stars because they clearly have the best Mexican food in Mt. Pleasant, so I changed it to 5 stars. We will be back soon, amigos.

I first ate at Los Arcos during my first trip to Charleston circa 2003. It's your typical chain greasy cheesy delicious Mexican food restaurant a la Senor Tequila or La Hacienda. Nothing really special about the place, but the food is consistent and the drink prices are really good. One thing that stands out here is the decent price on guacamole that is actually edible. Most places in town have yet to figure that out. I know avocados are expensive, but it doesn't cost you $8-$10 to produce a tiny bowl of mashed up avos, tomatoes, and onion; Taco Boy, I'm looking at you. They have two variants of guac at Los Arcos, one is guacamole "dip" for $2 and "mexican style" for $5. The girls I was with ordered the cheaper option and they were pretty pleased. Enough about avocados. Los Arcos is a good little spot to hit on your way back from the beach or if you're in the Seaside Farms area. It can be a little tricky navigating your way to the backside of the parking lot where they are located though.

It's better than Taco Bell. What a disappointing restaurant. These people are merely mailing it in. Pre made margaritas that taste like a child's juice box, salsa worse than the cheapest jarred garbage at piggly wiggly, nachos than run with grease and poorest quality ground beef. They somehow even made bottled beer taste bad. All I ask is to put in a little effort and care. They did none of these. But... the place was packed, so I guess they can get away with it. Good for them, but I won't be back.

Am always on the look out for a good mexican/tex-mex restaurant... So, anyone know of a good one, please let me know. In the meantime, I'll settle for A-OK one's.... Really miss a TEX-MEX chain that left MTP (OTB)... Oh, well... said with a sigh. This place is close to home so works well. What I do love is their guacomole... And my wife and I both love their signature chicken soup... I will say, that is definitely a FAVORITE! Large chunks of chicken, fresh and not over cooked, veggies (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower). Then they add chunked avacodo, and some pico de gallo (with a bite). So, since I've thoroughly described their soup... The rest of the menu is OK.. Maybe, I'm just not treading far from my standard combo plates...

Yuck. Yes, we were in at an off hour. Took forever to get our food. Then when it arrived, it was not fitting for human consumption. Only redeeming thing... was the salsa and chips and the friendly service. Food was a Fail. There are too many choices in this town to risk it all here.

Considering what it is, and that's a run of the mill quick Mexican restaurant, the food here is better than most others in the same category. The service is always insanely fast and the servers are generally attentive and accommodating. One of my favorites is the Pollo Fundido. I've had it a few other places and it just doesn't have as much flavor as the one here. I'm pretty sure it's around 8 bucks and you get free chips and salsa. I'm sure the quality of the food isn't top notch and it's nothing close to authentic Mexican food, but it's quick, cheap, and tasty. Plus it comes with free chips and salsa - who doesn't like free?

Ate there for the first (and last) time tonight. This is most definitely NOT authentic Mexican/Tex Mex food. I had their Los Arcos special. It had a burrito with red sauce that tasted like spaghetti sauce. There was this pile of what looked like melted cheese with a corn meal - like texture. I cut into it and found a blended ground beef and bean 'paste' like substance. After rooting around a bit I found a piece of a chili, and realized it was a chili relleno. My wife had chicken fajitas. They were not strips, but little chunks of over cooked, dry pieces of bland, flavorless chicken. I just moved here from Houston, so maybe my expectations of a Mexican restaurant are a bit different. If this is the best Mexican food on Mt. Pleasant (as stated by many other reviews here) then I'll have to start making my own fajitas.

Nice decor, friendly service, good food, great prices. I made my first trip to Los Arcos today (which is kind of pathetic considering I can almost see it from my front steps) and left very impressed. The enchiladas I ordered were fantastic, one chicken and one beef. Also the meal came with a hard shell taco and delicious rice. The friend I went with frequents Los Arcos often and said that her and her husband always have great meals there. Her steak fajita meal also looked extremely appetizing. The restaurant was nearly full on a Thursday at lunch yet we still were seated, served and out within 30 minutes. Prices were great...each meal during lunch was only $6.75 (maybe not even more than you'd pay for a combo across the street at Taco Bell). The atmosphere and decor was fairly standard for a mexican restaurant but it did the trick. I will definitely be eating there again.

I am not sure why this place has so many poor reviews. I have come here at least once a month over the past year and have never had a bad experience. Los Arcos is your typical strip mall Mexican restaurant. It has all the staples plus some of their own creations. They do several shrimp dishes my husband rotates through and he really likes them all. One area I think really stands out is their service. The place is always busy but we have never had to wait for a table, and our food and drinks come out almost as quickly as we order them. Overall, great place for a quick, delicious, and filing meal.

My hubs and I really enjoy this place! We always get seated right away and our servers are very attentive. We order the vegan plate (FYI it's loaded with cheese, not true vegan) and margaritas & chips. Wow! The drinks are delicious and will put a big smile on your face!

This place is not only a MEXICAN'T, it's a MEXIWON'T. NOT the best Mexican food in Mt. Pleasant. Not sure WHERE to find it, but surely this cannot be it. NoooooooooooooooOOoooOOOooo! This is Americanized Mexican food. Looks like food was ladeled onto plates, hosh posh and mish mash like. And I got sick. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME FIND GOOD MEXICAN FOOD.

First of all, I can appreciate where Christian B. is coming from, with his two-star review. I lived most of my life in California and Los Arcos would just barely pass in most towns out there. But... Considering that this is located right around the corner from Towne Centre Shopping Mall, in the heart of greater Charleston's suburbia, I was rather impressed with Los Arcos. The only places I've found that approach authentic Mexican food are either at the far end of John's Island, or the taco trucks out along Ashley Phosphate. (I admit, I still need to check out Santi's.) Los Arcos is still -- as most "Mexican" places in Charleston tend to be -- ultimately, Mexican food made for gringos. But it is a cut above the rest. At least several of the menu items didn't prominently feature "queso." (Note: that melted cheese goop is Texan, not Mexican.) I was disappointed that their default filling was ground beef. There are so many more interesting and tastier alternatives. I enjoyed my chilaquiles, and the extremely tender carnitas were a bit hit at our table. Also, if you find the salsa that is served with tortilla chips a touch bland, as I did, you can ask for the "salsa mas piquante." It is quite a bit hotter and much more flavorful. Oh, and the draft Dos Equis in giant, frosty mugs is pretty dope.

Basic Mexican food in a strip mall. Enchiladas, quesedillas, tacos, margs, etc. Service is fast, polite, attentive. Bar is very small, not good for big groups, and in typical blue blood fashion, they still serve liquor from those small airplane bottles...welcome to Charlietown. Not a lot of choices for Mexican out this way, and it'll do if you need a Mexican fix.

Colleen M.
Los Arcos is your typical Mexican restaurant nothing special. The food is good, prices are decent and the service is quick. Their margaritas are delicious but only if they are frozen.
(3)

Authenticity, hell, I don't know. I make good Mexican at home, at least as far as I'm concerned. Taste is what matters. Flavors, and proper use of spices get points with me. I had chilaquiles for the first time ever and wow, what a great combo. Tortilla chips, salsa, cheese, marinated chicken all surrounded by very mild (and smooth) guac, excellent rice and a pico-topped salad. The Carta Blanca was excellent as usual. This is just an excellent, casual, near-beach Mexican joint. And at $8.25 a plate, the price is right too. I don't generally do Mexican fare while in the Charleston area, so I can't say that this is the best in the area, but better than Los Arcos would be extraordinary. With a more permanent presence in Mt Pleasant a reality now, I plan to try the many other options. Go here.

In my opinion, this is the best mexican place in Mt. Pleasant. Its really quick and good. I have been in and out of this place in 30 minutes. I like the horchata, its one of the only places in town that serves it. Chips and salsa are standard and free. I like their chimichungas, fajitas and rice and beans. I really havent had something I didnt like here. Prices are good, staff is fast and friendly, I recommend this place.

Not sure what kind of Mexican food this place serves, but it's nothing like the Mexican I've eaten. With lots of Mexican people working here, you'd think they'd have an idea of what Mexican food should be. But apparently not. When I asked about their chile relleno, I was told it's a bowl of meat covered with a pepper and some cheese. Huh? A bowl of meat? Even weirder is they actually do make a chile relleno the right way, only they call it a chile poblano. Vexing me even more was the "Chimichanga" that was set down in front of me. I use the quotes because, well, whatever I was served wasn't a chimichanga. It was more like a stubby flauta or an enchilada without the sauce. Either way it was just plain wrong. My folks and wife seemed to like their food OK (nothing tasted awful), but I don't think I've ever had anything here I've liked. Everything has always been just a little off from what it should be, as if the person cooking it has only had Mexican food described to him, but hasn't ever really eaten it before. Anyway, do yourself a favor and drive down to Santi's on Meeting Street instead. I wish I had.

If you like hammerd horse shit. Here is your place. Where the cheese dip is most likely from a can and @ least the crap laying on the floor does not have roaches running all over it. Never in my life will i go to any mexican resturant with the same name. This shit wouldnt even be good drunk.

After a day of doing a lot of walking at Middleton Place, we decided to stop here for dinner. My wife loves Mexican and we use to eat at a Los Arcos at a different location when we lived in S.C so we know its good. This location wasn't any different. The place was clean and the staff was attentive and friendly. The chips were warm and the salsa decent. The kids love this part of the meal as do I. I had the Supremas Racheras (1-bean burrito, 1-beef, 1-shredded beef, 1-cheese and 1-chicken) Overall, fantastic. A lot of food and suprising I didn't finish it. I have to admit, as I have in previous Mexican fare reviews, that I don't care for some of the spices used as was the case with the shreeded beef. It was good and it seemed the meat was soaked in spices of which most people like. I on the other hand just can't get the tastebuds to like it or become accustomed to the spices in some cases. The wife had her go to favorite of a Shrimp Chimichanga. She thoroughly enjoyed it but found something to be lacking. I can't remember what it was but it didn't put her off as to send it back or anything. As a mtter of fact she finished it. It was a great ending to what was a great day in S.C.

I'm not sure what has happened to this place but it has gotten really awful. My husband and I used to dine here frequently and thought it was pretty good- authentic--no but descent and close to where we live. Well we just returned from an early dinner there and I must say this is the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. The mushrooms in the Fajitas were canned (come on mushrooms are available all year round) which made me wonder what else is from a can. The food was mediocre at best. And to top it off there was a worker vacuuming the dining room the entire time we were eating. It was quite annoying. Isn't this usually done when patrons are gone at closing time????? Do not waste your time. I will drive out to Santi's any day rather than eat here ever again.

Love this restaurant. Very relaxing and not too expensive. LOVE LOVE LOVE their chips and salsa!! Yum. Quick service and good food. And... not to mention the stuff animal machine in the front!! I have won little stuff animals pretty much every time I have gone there!! For the kids ya know. :)

I love Los Arcos! I was new to the area and tried EVERY Mexican place searching for something like El Sombrero, this is it, but better! They have a clean, casual atmosphere, decent service, and great food. The salsa isn't the best I've had, but overall I love the place. I can't believe some of the other Mexican places around here - don't waste your time - Go to Los Arcos! I eat there once a week!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The place is always busy but we have never had to wait for a table, and our food and drinks come out almost as quickly as we order them. Overall, great place for a quick, delicious, and filing meal.

This is great Mexican restaurant near the IOP connector. Great prices and the food was very fresh. We will definitely be back!

Best mexican food in town! Been going as regulars for 7 years. Service is friendly and happy, and the food is the best! And it comes out super fast. (Try to avoid Kids nights tho!)

Good Mexican food, but not exactly authentic! The wait staff are very friendly, and the place is clean. It's a great place for families.

Los Arcos is your typical Mexican restaurant nothing special. The food is good, prices are decent and the service is quick. Their margaritas are delicious but only if they are frozen.

Go here.

Chicken fajitas served on a cold plate?? Gross! Terrible food!

Best Mexican food in Mtp. The food is surprisingly really good, the staff is very courteous and prompt and the margaritas are made perfect with a very affordable price. Great place.
